The Best Bucket List for a Weekend in Amsterdam
It had always been a dream of mine to visit Amsterdam. I finally had the opportunity to go in 2019 while I was studying abroad in England. As expected, I had an amazing trip. I visited the iconic Red Light District, rode a bike through the city, took a canal tour, and ate some of the best foods. When I cam home, I created the perfect bucket list for anyone visiting Amsterdam for the first time.
For the most part, everything in Amsterdam is within walking distance. The only main tourist attractions that you can't get to on foot are the tulips at Keukenhof and the windmills. Besides that, everything else is in the center of the city!
If you are visiting Amsterdam on a budget or are only there for a weekend (or both like me), I would recommend skipping the tulips and the windmills. I did not go and see them on my short trip because I wanted to spend my time walking around the main city.
The main peace of advice I have for anyone visiting Amsterdam is to book tickets to the Anne Frank Museum as soon as possible. Tickets sell out weeks in advanced and it is nearly impossible to buy them the day of. If you are unable to get tickets, the museum offers a virtual tour that you can find here. I would also recommend reading Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl before your trip to Amsterdam.
If you would like the checklist in a different color, I can customize one for you here.
